Food Science and Technology Center

Goals and Objectives 

The goal of this center would be to use the knowledge of the science and technology to develop value added food products that would be locally manufactured utilizing the resources available within your country. The Technology Center would train and assist existing businesses in improving their current products or developing new ones. Additionally the center could serve as a catalyst for the local population to develop small scale businesses and kiosks to enhance the local economy.  

Program Curriculum 

The curriculum will be offered in a seminar type setting about 4 times in a year and would comprise of classroom sessions, laboratory sessions, market research sessions, food plant visits and field trips to research raw ingredients. The class room session would give a basic understanding of raw materials and their functions in the development of food products. The laboratory session would be the hands on session with training on formula development as well as bench top process development The market research session would conduct field research of the demographics, conduct the taste panels, gauge the product acceptance and develop pricing structures. The food plant visits would include partnering with the local industries for the students to visit their facilities. The field trips would include visits to agriculture related farms within your country. The duration of each session would be about 4 weeks. The goal would be to do a commercial product launch at the end of each session. 

Program Technology 

The focus of the program technology would be to choose those products that do not involve a large capital lay out. We would also strive to focus on products that have an abundant supply of raw material resource and easily available components to develop a commercial formula and process. With that in mind, we propose the following products.
